Logging In
To log into WebConduit’s Communication System (WCS), you must be signed up in a group with your own User ID and password. If you need to sign up, click on Sign Up on the WCS home page and fill out the form.
You will be able to Log In immediately after signing up. Be sure to enter the correct Group Name, Log In name, and Password. Then click the button labeled "Login" to start your session. Back to Top of Page
Drop-down Menu
After you log in, you will see a Drop-down Menu in the upper left corner labeled My Desktop. Click the down arrow next to the GO button to view the available options then highlight the function you want to use. Hit enter or click the GO button to activate the function.

My Desktop
This is your starting point. If someone has sent you a UpFront Note, it will be visible on this screen after you Log In. To delete a UpFront Note, click the Delete icon
on the upper left corner of the UpFront Note.
From here, use the drop-down menu to activate other available options. You can return to your desktop from anywhere by highlighting My Desktop in the drop-down menu or by clicking the Desktop icon

Write UpFront Note
If you want to leave someone in your group a short message or note that they will see upon logging in, highlight Write UpFront Note on the drop-down menu or click the UpFront Note icon
. Click the down arrow on the drop-down menu to highlight the name of the person you want to send the note to, then click inside the text box to begin typing. When you are finished, click the Send UpFront Note button. You will get confirmation that your note was sent, and the recipient of the note will see it when they Log In.

Read Messages
To read messages other members of your group have sent you, highlight Read Messages in the drop-down menu and click the GO button, or click the Message icon
. You will be taken to a screen that lists messages sent to you by other group members. The messages will be listed with the most recent one at the top.
To read the full text of a message, click the Small Page icon
to the left of the Subject field. You will be taken to a page that shows the full message text. To get back to the list of messages, click the Back button. This will return you to the list of messages. To delete a message from the list, click the Delete icon
left of the Subject field. To reply to a message, click the icon with the left-pointing arrow
and you will be taken to a send message function that is already addressed and includes the original text of the message you are replying to. Simply type your reply in the text box and click the Send button. To forward a message, click the icon with the upwards-pointing arrow
. A page comes up with the message already there for forwarding. Click the drop-down menu to choose the recipient of the forwarded message, then click the Send button.

Send Messages
To send a more detailed message to someone in your group, highlight Send Message in the drop-down menu then click the GO button or click on the Write Message icon
. You will be taken to a screen that includes a text box for you to compose your message and another drop-down box listing group members. Click the down arrow to highlight the name of the person you want to send the message to, then click Go. If you want the message dated, click the Insert Date button either before or after you compose the message. Click inside the text box to begin typing. When you're done, click the Send Message button. You will get confirmation that your message was sent.

Scheduler
To schedule an event or see events that are scheduled, highlight Scheduler in the drop-down menu and click the GO button or click the scheduler icon
.
When you call up the scheduler, a monthly calendar with today's date highlighted in blue appears on your screen. Days with events scheduled are highlighted in yellow. To schedule an event in the current month, click on the desired day and type in the event information in the text box below the calendar, then click the Add This Day button. To schedule an event in a different month, click the down arrow on the drop-down menu next to choose the month. To choose another year, click the down arrow on the drop-down menu and scroll to choose a year. Then click the Show button. The calendar will show the month and year you have chosen. To view events already scheduled, click on the highlighted day, then scroll down to the text box to see the description. You may also view scheduled events in Scheduler List View, described in the next section. Back to Top of Page
Scheduler List View
To see all events that are scheduled regardless of month or year, highlight Scheduler List View in the drop-down menu and click the GO button. You will be taken to a screen that displays a list of scheduled events in date order. Previously scheduled events will drop off the view but may be accessed by changing the date parameters on the calendar. To switch to the calendar view from the list view, click the Calendar View link above the listing of events or click on the Calendar icon
appearing next to the list of events. Keep in mind that clicking the Calendar icon
next to a scheduled event will show the calendar view with that day highlighted in blue.
To delete an event, click on the delete icon

Chat
To start a chat session, highlight Chat in the drop-down menu and click the GO button or click the Chat icon
.
Chat will only work with PC's running Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02 and higher or Netscape 4.0 and higher. When you go to the chat area, the chat program is automatically loaded. The person you want to Chat with will need to be notified of the time that the chat will take place by sending a UpFront Note or by some other means.
Once you are logged on to the Chat with at least one other person, you simply type in the words and hit the ENTER key on your keyboard. Your words will show up on the screens of anyone participating in the chat session, including yours.
Bulletin Boards
To start a Bulletin Boards session, highlight Bulletin Boards in the drop-down menu and click the GO button or click the Bulletin Boards icon
.
Bulletin Boards are useful for collaborating on a project or posting discussion forums on various issues. To start a Forum, click the Add Forum link. You will be taken to a screen with a text box available to give your Forum a name. After you've typed in a name for your Forum, click the Add Forum button. You will return to the Bulletin Boards page and your new Forum will be listed along with other Forums previously started. Click on your new Forum name to post information. A new screen will be displayed with a text box for entering whatever information is appropriate to your Forum. You may also add a picture to a Forum by clicking the Browse button and locating the picture in a file on your computer or a disc. Click the Post New Message button under the text box to add your new posting. You will remain on the same screen, but your posting will be listed.
Group Notification
If you want to notify your group that there is a new message, highlight Group Notification on the drop-down menu and click the GO button or click the Group Notification icon
.
. You will be able to enter the subject of your email and any text that you want sent. Click the Submit button. Your email will be sent to all members of your group.

Log Out
When you are finished using Webconduit, click the Log Out icon
.
This will end your session and send you to the login screen. From there, you can go to any other web site you want or just close your browser.
